Enhancing Teaching and Learning

At Duke University, they’ve been exploring the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance teaching and learning. One notable application is the creation of an Intelligent Classroom Assistant. Developed by Duke Engineering’s Jon Reifschneider, this assistant evaluates teaching effectiveness and measures student progress. It analyzes patterns of student performance, providing insights for both instructors and learners. For instance, it assesses students’ ability to write computer code and offers personalized, adaptive learning paths based on their current abilities and motivations for learning to program.
