Galen Ziegler

Galen Ziegler is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Harford Community College and a PhD candidate in Nursing Education at Liberty University. A generative AI leader in the nursing field, Galen focuses on Artificial Intelligence as a catalyst for transforming clinical reasoning and prioritizing active learning over traditional models. Since 2023, he has spearheaded institutional innovations by implementing a mandatory AI training program for nursing students and creating college-wide resources and professional development. Galen’s technical expertise includes creating custom, agent-like chatbots to simulate immersive clinical scenarios in what he calls "Scalable Low-Fidelity Simulation Practices." His doctoral research investigates the causal impact of interactive AI avatars on critical thinking disposition, and he designs bots to serve as robust course helpers that drive higher-order cognitive processes. Ultimately, Galen is dedicated to bridging the gap between technological advancement and nursing education to elevate patient safety.
